New for 2019, UCAC will award both the traditional UCAC General Scholarship(s) and the all new UCAC Foundations Scholarship, created exclusively to promote the education of a deserving student interested in the pursuit of the trades, engineering or construction management.
This year’s Scholarship Dinner will be held at The Gallery in Glastonbury, CT and will begin at 5:00pm.

About Newell A. Stamm (1927-2018)
Newell A. Stamm was a founding member and past president (1979-1981) of UCAC and co-owner of Stamm Construction in Newington. He was also a firefighter with the Newington Volunteer Fire Department for over thirty years and a commissioner of the Metropolitan District. Newell was chosen as the 1988 businessperson of the year by the Newington Chamber of Commerce. He was well known in the utility construction industry in Connecticut but even moreso he was respected as a businessman and cherished as a friend.

Winner of the UCAC Foundation Scholarship In Memory of Newell A. Stamm
Michael Stamm
Michael is an accomplished graduate of Northwest Catholic High School. He is the Valedictorian of his class, an Eagle Scout, National AP Scholar, Summa Cum Laude Medalist on the National Latin Exam, Member of the National Honor Society and a Harvard Book Award Recipient. He is also a Varsity Runner, Principal Trumpet in the Jazz Band and Committee Chair for the Model United Nations, who volunteers at Bel-Aire Nursing Home, competitively races sailboats and enjoys backpacking. Michael will be entering Northeastern University’s College of Engineering on a 5 year plan with multiple Co-Op opportunities.
UCAC General Scholarship Winners
Owen Lacourciere
Owen is a graduate of Lewis Mills High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Commissioner of Link Crew (a transition program for freshman high school students), Officer of the CIAC Class Act Leadership Club and is an Officer in the DARE Program. Owen is a member of Mills Club, a community service group, and has worked over 190 hours of community service through high school. As an athlete, he has received numerous awards and accolades in Hockey, Cross-Country and Baseball. Owen will be attending Fairfield University to study Construction Management and Finance.
Ethan Adams
Ethan is a graduate of the Woodstock Academy. He is an Honor Roll student and member of the Spanish National Honor Society and FRESH (Family Related Effective Solutions for Humanity). Ethan is a Scholar Athlete and has won many accolades for his athletic success. He has volunteered for Woodstock Academy Gives Back, coaching youth basketball and soccer camps. He will be attending Wentworth Institute of Technology, studying Civil Engineering.
Grace Hurlburt
Grace is a graduate of Ellington High School. She is a Scholar Athlete and has received awards for Excellence in Sports Marketing and French. Grace has participated in PAABS (Peer Advocates for a Better Society), Future Business Leaders of America, and volunteered in Youth Tennis Programs. She will be attending Endicott College, studying Business and Marketing.
