The amazing work that is being done by our members and others in the industry needs to be celebrated. That’s why UCAC convened an Awards Committee in 2022 and began looking at ways that we can honor the incredible individuals and companies making a difference for our communities, the industry and the people who work so hard to build and maintain Connecticut’s infrastructure.
Now, we need your input – nominations are open through March 15, 2025. You may nominate your own company for any of the awards and you can submit as many entries as you like.
Winners will be selected by an independent judging panel and will be announced in March. Winners will be expected to attend the UCAC Industry & Scholarship Awards Dinner on April 24, 2025 at The Marina at Saint Clements Castle to collect their award(s).

Please note: our judging panel will be looking for detail in your nominations. Entries should include as much information as possible including supporting documents, photos, etc. If you need to submit additional files or information beyond this form, you may email UCAC's Executive Director, Barb Dimauro, at ed@ucac.org or call 860.631.7473. The number of awards given will be determined by the quantity and quality of entries received. PLEASE ONLY SUBMIT ONE NOMINATION PER ENTRY FORM.

UCAC Members and Non-Members
We recognize that professionals and companies in our industry who are not currently members of UCAC are doing some great things – so we invite all eligible individuals and companies to submit entries.
Jobs of Distinction
Nominees may submit entries for any job in the area of excavation, site preparation/development, earth moving or the rehabilitation of utility systems. Both members and non-members are encouraged to apply.
Hero Awards
Has your company given back to your community through financial contributions, volunteer hours, fundraising events or other means? We want to hear about how you and your team are making your world a better place and helping others. UCAC Members and non-members are eligible to self-nominate or be nominated.
Best Place to Work
Some companies are going above and beyond to create a team environment where staff wants to be – where hard work, safety, leadership and expertise are rewarded and time is made for fun, too!
Safety Awards
Has your company instituted a safety program that is head-and-shoulders above the rest? Safety is such an important part of our industry and we want to shine a light on the programs and initiatives that are making a difference.
Rookie of the Year Award
This award is reserved for a contractor who has been in the industry for 10 years or less and has already made a mark in any area (workforce development, community involvement, excellence in UC or safety).
Operator of the Year Award
Know an amazing operator who shows excellence and safety in their expert handling of heavy equipment?
Advocacy Awards
Nominees for the UCAC Advocacy Awards may be a UCAC/NUCA member in good standing, a utility contractor from the state of Connecticut or a legislator of government/quasi-government official who has made a significant effort to improve or a major impact on legislation, regulations or funding beneficial to the industry and our organization.

UCAC Ditchdigger of the Year
Nominations will be accepted from any UCAC member for our UCAC Ditchdigger of the Year. Nominees must be a member in good standing of UCAC/NUCA and be engaged in utility construction as their primary business.
UCAC Associate Member of the Year
Nominations will be accepted from any UCAC member for our UCAC Associate Member of the Year. Nominees must be a member in good standing of UCAC/NUCA and be engaged in the business of providing products or services to utility contractors.
Executive Director’s Award
The ED will select a UCAC member who has gone above and beyond to promote and assist UCAC in the past year. Honorees will be UCAC/NUCA members in good standing who have made a significant impact by assisting with recruitment, retention and other activities central to the success of the organization.
NUCA Participation
Nominees should be UCAC/NUCA members in good standing who are engaged with the utility construction industry at the national level through participation on NUCA committees, at NUCA events or on regional or national boards.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The UCAC Board of Directors and the Awards & Recognition Committee may, at their discretion, honor a long-time UCAC Member with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
